On 20-25 September 2025, Ambassador Nadhavathna Krishnamra accompanied the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Thailand (APPG for Thailand) led by Mr. Mark Garnier MP, Chair of the APPG for Thailand, together with Lord Brady of Altrincham, the previous Chair, on a visit to Thailand. The aim of the visit was to further strengthen bilateral relations, especially at parliamentary level and to provide the delegation with an opportunity to observe recent developments in Thailand.

The visit began with a call on H.E. Mr. Wanmuhamadnoor Matha, President of the Thai National Assembly as well as meeting with Senator Amornsak Kitthananan, Chair of the Thailand-UK Parliamentarians Friendship Group, and its members.

The Adviser reiterated Thailand’s determination to seek a peaceful resolution to the Thai–Cambodian border situation. Various sessions were organised to allow exchanges of views on economic, financial, and fiscal matters including directions for development and investment policy with senior representatives from the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council, the Fiscal Policy Office, and the Bank of Thailand. The delegation also met with representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, GISTDA, and the President of Mahanakorn University of Technology, exchanging on how to further deepen cooperation on education, science and innovation. The delegation further had the opportunity to have an informal exchange of views with H.E. Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun, Minister of Commerce, on ways to promote trade and investment between the two countries.

Another important aspect of the programme involved meetings with the key business actors in Thailand, including the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand, and the Thai–UK Business Leadership Council, to explore possibilities to enhance trade and investment cooperation including a bilateral FTA. The CEO of PTT Public Company Limited also hosted the group and shared PTT’s vision on renewable and sustainable energy and possible energy cooperation between Thailand and the UK.
