 Ambassador

Mr. Thongphakdi assumed his posting at the Royal Thai Embassy on 29 November 2022. He presented his Letters of Credence as Ambassador of Thailand to the Court of St. James’s on 16 February 2023. He is concurrently non-resident Ambassador of Thailand to Ireland, presenting his Letters of Credence to the President of Ireland on 19 December 2023.

Prior to this current posting, he was Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs from 2020-2022, Ambassador to the United States of America from 2019-2020, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs from 2017-2019, and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Office and Other International Organizations in Geneva from 2012-2017. He is a career foreign service officer, having joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1987.
