Message from the Ambassador

         A warm greeting to Thai communities and friends of Thailand in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It is an honour for me to have been graciously appointed by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua as Ambassador of Thailand to the United Kingdom.

         Thailand and the UK have a rich history of close and cordial relations, underpinned by shared values and mutual interests. Our two countries established formal diplomatic relations in 1855 and jointly proclaimed a “Strategic Partnership” in 2012, resonating their commitment to advance cooperation in all aspects for the mutual benefit of our two countries and peoples.

         With Ireland, its increased emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region also augurs well for our growing partnership. In 2022, we held our first political consultation to drive and synergise our collaboration on all areas of mutual interest, including on global and regional issues.

         Looking forward, I am committed to ramping up our cooperation in all areas, from political and security, trade and investment, to culture and tourism. To this end, the importance of people-to-people exchanges cannot be overstated if we are to strengthen even further the special bonds that exist between our countries. Another top priority for the Embassy is the welfare of Thai nationals in the UK and Ireland and the provision of consular services to Thais and foreign nationals alike. We hope to cooperate even closer with local Thai communities so that they can continue to contribute not only to the communities in which they live, but also to the promotion of closer ties of friendship and cooperation between Thailand and the UK and Ireland.
