Message from the Ambassador

Sawasdee krub!

A warm greeting to Thai communities and friends of Thailand in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as well as Ireland. It is an honour for me to have been graciously appointed by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua as Ambassador of Thailand to the UK.

I am truly delighted to return to the United Kingdom as Ambassador of Thailand. Having served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Royal Thai Embassy in London eight years ago, the UK and Ireland always hold a special place in my heart. I look forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and acquaintances as well as building new friendships to further strengthen the ties with both countries.

My return comes at a particularly special time, as 2025 marks two significant occasions—the 170th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand – UK diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand – Ireland diplomatic relations. Throughout the year, there will be a range of activities to celebrate these long-standing friendships and to build even closer ties across multiple areas of cooperation.

Over the past year, Thailand – UK relations have made remarkable progress, with our ties elevated to a “Strategic Partnership”, paving the way for wider and deeper collaboration across key sectors. In addition, the signing of the MoU on the Enhanced Trade Partnership (ETP) in September last year sets the stage for a future Thailand – UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to further boost trade and investment among our two countries. I am committed to building on this momentum, strengthening cooperation in politics, security, trade, investment, culture, and tourism, and most importantly the people-to-people exchanges, which continue to play a crucial role in fostering and deepening our bilateral relations.

Similarly, for Ireland, I am eager to strengthen political and economic ties while enhancing Thailand’s engagement with the EU, particularly following the EU-Thailand Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) signed in 2022. Our goal is to finalize a Thailand – EU FTA, to further boosting trade and investment opportunities and positioning Ireland as a key gateway to the EU for Thai investors.

For Thai communities in the UK and Ireland and your family members, I wish to assure you that your well-being remains a top priority. I am committed to doing my utmost to support and assist the Thai communities in the UK and Ireland, while also ensuring that Thailand’s interests continue to be well represented and advanced. If there is anything we can do to support you, I and my Team Thailand colleagues stand ready to work with and assist you.
