On 20 May 2022, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata chaired the annual meeting with Thai scholarship students in 2022, organised by the Office of Education Affairs of Thailand in the UK, at the Mitra Samakhom Ballroom, Royal Thai Embassy in London. This meeting was attended by over 80 Thai scholarship students. Also present were members of the Thailand Team in London i.e. Office of Thai Naval Attache, Office of Economic and Financial Affairs, Bank of Thailand London Representative Office, and PTT International Trading London Office, to provide information and share knowledge with the students.
As this meeting was organised once again after the two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ambassador Pisanu took this opportunity to share with the students the works of the Embassy in driving forward the government policies and in carrying out multi-dimensional tasks, especially the promotion of Thai-UK partnership to share UK’s best practices in the fight against COVID-19 with Thai disease control agencies. Ambassador Pisanu also highlighted the importance of Thailand’s chairmanship of APEC 2022 under the theme “Open. Connect. Balance.” with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model as the overarching concept, which would be a solid foundation for Thailand’s economic development in the future.
In closing, Ambassador Pisanu encouraged the students to fully prepare themselves to become the future driving force for the country’s national development after their graduation. Ambassador Pisanu advised that they take advantage of their stay in the UK to learn and gain knowledge and good experience outside the classroom, especially technology and management paradigm which are practical and applicable for the Thai bureaucratic and social development. Equally important is that, as government scholarship awardees, they should be self-development conscious with the constant pursuit of improving themselves in all respects to have special abilities and qualities that are superior to others, commensurate with the given academic opportunity and expectations from the Thai society.
