On 1 August 2026, Miss Kritsana Chonweerawong, Minister of the Royal Thai Embassy in London, representing the Ambassador, attended the commemorative ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the official opening of Buddhapadipa Temple by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great in 1966 as the first Thai Buddhist temple in Europe.

The ceremonial programme included a Buddhist chanting ceremony dedicated to Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand and prayers of blessing for Chao Khun Phra Sineenatha Bilaskalayani. A merit-making and alms-offering ceremony was also held in tribute to His Majesty King Rama VII on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of His Majesty's passing in the UK.

On this auspicious occasion, His Majesty the King of Thailand graciously bestowed a set of monastic robes and Thai monastic requisites to be presented to the presiding monk. The ceremony brought together members of the Sangha from across the UK and Europe, the Embassy’s officials and members of Team Thailand in London, Thai and international Buddhist devotees and representatives of the Thai community in the UK.
