• Birth certificate registration does not require an appointment.
• The child, father and mother are required in person at Royal Thai Embassy, London.
• To register for a Thai birth certificate, the child has to have been born in the UK/Ireland and have a UK/Ireland Full Birth Certificate.
• Registrations of births are free of charge. 
• Applicants may collect the birth certificate in person or request for return of the birth certificate by post (For postage returns, please provide a self-addressed pre-paid Royal Mail Special Delivery A4/C4 hardback envelope, up to 100g)      
   

Remarks: If the child was born before 1st March, 1992 (B.E. 2535), please see below under the subject "If the child was born before 1st March, 1992 (B.E. 2535)".

Required Documents

If the child’s parents are married

1.  A recent (2 x 2 inches) photos of the child
2.  A photocopy of UK/Irish Full Birth Certificate
3.  A photocopy of Parents' Marriage Certificate
4.  A photocopy of Parents’ Valid Passports (Parents with a Thai nationality are required to provide a copy of the Thai passport)
5.  A photocopy of Parents’ Thai Identity Cards or Thai House Registration (for those who are Thai nationals)

If the child’s parents are not married

1.  A recent (2 x 2 inches) photo of the child
2.  A photocopy of UK/Irish Full Birth Certificate
3.  A photocopy of Parents’ Valid Passports (Parents with a Thai nationality are required to provide a copy of the Thai passport)
4.  A photocopy of Parents’ Thai Identity Cards or Thai House Registration (for those who are Thai nationals)
5.  A Request Form to be completed by the father, leaving the signature section blank to be signed in person in front of the Consular officer, if the child wishes to use the father’s surname - this is a consent form for the child to use the father’s surname.

     Memo to be completed by the mother, stating her familial status that she lives with the father and the child but has not registered the marriage.

6.  A photocopy of Child Custody document - Por. Kor. 14 (only for cases of lost contact with the father).

* Under Thai law, a child gets his/her Thai citizenship after the Thai mother. In case that the parents are not married and the mother is not a Thai national, the child will get Thai citizenship only after the father has registered the child as his.*

If the child’s parents are divorced

1.  A recent (2 x 2 inches) photos of the child
2.  A photocopy of UK/Irish Full Birth Certificate
3.  A photocopy of Divorce Certificate
4.  A photocopy of Child Custody Document 
5.  A photocopy of Child Custody Document - Por. Kor. 14

* By Thai law, a child gets his/her Thai citizenship from the Thai mother. In case that the parents are not married, and the mother is not a Thai national, the child can get Thai citizenship only if the father has registered the child as his*

If the child was born before 1st  March, 1992 (B.E. 2535)
1.  Complete forms in section 2 above and prepare documents as in sections 3.2 or 3.3 or 3.4. 
2.  For UK, Full Birth Certificate must be prior-certified by the Legalisation Office, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). For Republic of Ireland, Full Birth Certificate must be prior-certified by the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland.
3.  The original of the Full Birth Certificate will be kept for the record at the embassy.
4.  Father and mother are required to come in person if requesting registration of births before 1992.
5.  The fee is £10 in cash only
