On 25 May 2026, Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the 6th Thailand – United Kingdom Strategic Dialogue with Ms. Seema Malhotra, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Indo-Pacific) at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office of the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on their respective political and economic developments, as well as trade and investment, emphasizing that the United Kingdom was Thailand’s 4th largest investor in 2025. They also explored opportunities to pave the way toward a future negotation for Thailand - United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
In addition, both sides discussed visa exemption arrangements for diplomatic passport holders and Thailand’s bid for OECD membership. Issues discussed further included security, environmental protection, clean energy, education, and international organizations. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to upholding international law and the rules-based order, and exchanged perspectives on current geopolitical landscapes and global economic challenges.
