On 12 November 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in London, in collaboration with the World Tipitaka Foundation, held a ceremony to present the World Tipitaka Sajjhāya Phonetic Recitation Editions of the Buddhist Scriptures—comprising 40 volumes in the King Bhumibol Adulyadej Edition featuring Syam-Pali phonetic symbols, and 40 volumes in the Queen Sirikit Edition featuring Pāli monotone music notation—to His Majesty King Charles III, in honour of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024.

The event comprised two parts: the ceremony at the Royal Thai Embassy in London and the presentation at Buckingham Palace. In the morning, the Embassy welcomed Dr. Nathan Ross, Assistant Private Secretary to His Majesty King Charles III, who attended as His Majesty’s representative for the presentation of the Tipitaka. The presentation was made by H.E. Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Kingdom; Phra Ajarn Karuniko of Cittaviveka Forest Monastery in Chithurst; Thanpuying Varaporn Pramoj Na Ayudhya, President of the World Tipitaka Foundation; Assoc. Prof. Voralak Snidwongse, Patron; and Dr. Jaruwaree Snidvongs, Patron, and family. The ceremony was attended by officials of Team Thailand in the United Kingdom, members of the local media, and representatives of the Thai community.

During the ceremony, videos were shown introducing the World Tipitaka Project, as well as demonstrating the correct Pāli Sajjhāya recitation method, allowing attendees to appreciate the accuracy of pronunciation preserved in this edition. In the afternoon, the delegation delivered the full set of the World Tipitaka Sajjhāya Phonetic Recitation Editions to Buckingham Palace, where it was formally received by Sir Clive Alderton, Private Secretary to Their Majesties The King and Queen, on behalf of His Majesty King Charles III. Sir Clive expressed appreciation for the value and significance of the Tipitaka, noting the special occasion of the 170th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the United Kingdom. He also emphasised His Majesty King Charles III’s longstanding interest in literature related to religion, history, and culture, and conveyed His Majesty’s gratitude to all who contributed to the project.

The World Tipitaka Sajjhāya Phonetic Recitation Editions, published in 2016, were created in honour of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great’s accession to the throne. Developed using Thai innovations—including AI and advanced electronic typesetting technologies with more than 2,000 registered patents—the editions enable highly accurate recitation of every Pāli syllable, closely resembling that of the Buddha’s era. They represent the world’s first transformation of ancient scriptural text into digital phonetic symbols.

This dissemination initiative, jointly undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the World Tipitaka Foundation, aims to honour His Majesty the King by presenting the Tipitaka to major institutions in more than 30 countries, including nations officially visited by Their Majesties and Thailand’s international partners—among them the United Kingdom.
