On 22 July 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in London hosted the 6th/2026 Meeting of the ASEAN London Committee (ALC). During the meeting, Thailand formally assumed the ALC Chairmanship for the second half of 2026, succeeding Cambodia.
His Excellency Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK, commended Her Excellency Mrs. Tout Panha, Ambassador of Cambodia to the UK and the Royal Embassy of Cambodia for their successful Chairmanship during the first half of 2026. He also affirmed Thailand’s readiness to further advance ASEAN-UK relations during this important juncture as ASEAN and the UK celebrate the fifth anniversary of Dialogue Relations and as Thailand is poised to assume the role of Country Coordinator for ASEAN-UK Dialogue Relations in 2027.
The meeting received an update on the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026 and discussed the ALC’s workplan and activities under Thailand’s Chairmanship, underling the importance of raising ASEAN’s visibility in the UK and advancing ASEAN-UK cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, innovation, sustainable development, education and research, against the backdrop of the formation of a new UK Government. The Committee also exchanged views on recent political developments in the UK.
