On 6 August 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in London hosted a special event to mark Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s birthday anniversary month, celebrated throughout August in Thailand and to commemorate the 170th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the United Kingdom.

In collaboration with the Miss World Organization, the Embassy organised a panel discussion under the theme “Beauty, Purpose, and Women’s Empowerment.” The conversation featured special guests Ms. Opal Suchata Chuangsri, Miss World 2025 and the first Thai woman in history to win the Miss World title, and Ms. Anchalee Worrachate Matlock, a Thai journalist with extensive experience at leading international news agencies.

Distinguished guests included members of the diplomatic corps in London, spouses of ambassadors, and women leaders from UK-based charities focused on supporting the rights, education, and opportunities of women and children in Thailand, ASEAN, and around the world. Participating organisations included the Pan Asian Women’s Association, The Women’s Council, and Save Child Thailand.

The discussion focused on the evolving role of women in society, strategies for empowering women globally, and the significance of Miss World as a role model for inspiring and educating the next generation toward gender equality and social change.

The event also featured a special exhibition in honour of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, showcasing rare historical documents and photographs from the Embassy’s archives relating to the Royal Visit to the UK by Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Queen Sirikit in 1960. A short presentation highlighting Her Majesty’s contributions in various fields was also shown, including her work in healthcare, cultural heritage preservation through the SUPPORT Foundation, support for displaced persons, and her creative vision in designing the iconic Eight Traditional Thai Dresses, which remain a proud national symbol.

Following the discussion, guests were invited to a Thai–British Afternoon Tea Reception, blending Thai hospitality with British tea culture — a memorable conclusion to a meaningful and inspiring event.
