On 25 March 2025, H.E. Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK, met with Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), to present his credentials appointing him as the Permanent Representative of Thailand to the IMO.

Both sides discussed a number of issues regarding Thailand’s constructive role in maritime affairs, including its candidacy for election to the IMO Council in Category C for the 2026–2027 term, as well as the reception to be held at the Royal Thai Embassy on 26 March 2025 to launch the candidature and introduce the Permanent Representative of Thailand to the IMO.

On this occasion, Ambassador Krishnamra presented the Instrument of Accession of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Protocol of 1988 relating to the International Convention on Load Lines, as well as the Protocol of 1988 relating to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. Also, Ambassador Krishnamra presented a copy of the note notifying the United Nations of the Royal Thai Government’s undertaking to apply the provisions of the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Specialised Agencies to four specialised agencies, including the IMO.
