On 5 March 2026, Ambassador Nadhavathna Krishnamra welcomed an executive delegation from the Faculty of Engineering of Thammasat University, led by Professor Dr. Sanya Mitaim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. Associate Professor Dr. Alex Chong, Postgraduate Taught Course Director at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Nottingham, also attended, together with Thai students enrolled in the Twinning Engineering Programmes (TEP-NU), a “two universities, two bachelor’s degrees” programme jointly developed by Thammasat University and the University of Nottingham.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on opportunities to foster closer educational cooperation between Thailand and the UK, particularly in the field of engineering, which plays a vital role in advancing Thailand’s targeted industrial development in the future. On this occasion, the Ambassador also highlighted the Embassy’s priority in promoting Thai-UK educational cooperation, noting that the Embassy has designated this year as the “Year of Education Partnership,” with the aim of strengthening and expanding educational collaboration at all levels between Thailand and the UK.

The Faculty of Engineering at Thammasat University has collaborated with the University of Nottingham in offering the TEP-NU programme since 1996. As this year marks the 30th anniversary of the academic partnership, both sides plan to organise activities to celebrate this milestone in October 2026 in Thailand. Each year, approximately 30 students from the Faculty of Engineering at Thammasat University travel to the UK to study at the University of Nottingham under this programme. Over the years, the programme has produced around 1,200 graduates.

In addition, in 2023 the two institutions have jointly developed a new double degree programme called TEPE x UoN (Thammasat Engineering Programme x University of Nottingham), which enables Thai students to obtain both a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (MSc) from Thammasat University and a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Nottingham within five years. Under this two-phase programme, students will study for the first three and a half years at Thammasat University and then spend one and a half years for the completion of the MSc course at the University of Nottingham in the UK.
