On 30 May 2026, H.E. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK, and Mrs. Priabthip Krishnamra, spouse of the Ambassador, together with officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and Team Thailand in London, attended a merit-making and commemorative ceremony marking the 85th anniversary of the passing of His Majesty King Prajadhipok (Rama VII), who passed away in the UK at Surrey in 1941, at the Golders Green Crematorium, North London. The ceremony was attended by approximately 30 Thais and Brits in the UK.
The Golders Green Crematorium holds special historical significance as the site where the royal cremation ceremony of His Majesty King Prajadhipok was conducted before His Majesty’s royal ashes returned to Thailand in 1949.
On this occasion, the Ambassador paid tribute to the enduring royal legacy and benevolence of His Majesty King Prajadhipok and Her Majesty Queen Rambhai Barni to Thailand and thai people. Their Majesties the King and Queen shared deep ties with the UK and made significant contributions to the development of Thailand and well-being of Thai people through royal duties and initiatives.
The Ambassador also expressed his appreciation to the Thai community in the UK, particularly the Association of Thai Businesses in the UK (ATBUK) and the Rajapruek Institute Foundation, for their initiative in jointly organising the ceremony and for their continued efforts in preserving the commemorative Cherry Blossom tree and memorial plaque at Gardens of Remembrance in Golders Green Crematorium, serving as important historical landmarks for the Thai community in the UK.
