On 14 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK, in his capacity as Chair of the ASEAN London Committee (ALC), led the ALC in a courtesy call on Baroness Winterton of Doncaster, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Indo-Pacific at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. The meeting provided an opportunity for the ALC to have an initial exchange of views with Baroness Winterton following her appointment to the role, which oversees the UK’s relations and cooperation with countries in the Indo-Pacific region, including ASEAN.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen the ASEAN–UK Dialogue Partnership, which marks its fifth anniversary this year, including interactions at the London, on matters such as security, combating online scams, cybersecurity, maritime issues, trade and investment, digital economy, energy transition, education, science, technology and innovation.

The ALC plans to encourage more high-level visits and exchanges, and to visit different parts of the United Kingdom to engage with local leaders, businesses and educational institutions. The ALC will also work with the private sector, educational institutions and communities related to ASEAN member countries to raise ASEAN’s profile in the United Kingdom.
