On 20 April 2026, Ambassador Nadhavathna Krishnamra met with Dr. Xerxes Mazda, Director of Collections at the British Museum. The meeting at the British Museum was also attended by Dr. Alexandra Green, SP Shaw Curator for Southeast Asia; Dr. Jessica Harrison-Hall F.S.A, Keeper of Asia Curator: Sir Percival David Collection; and Ms. Rosie Weetch, Head of International and National Partnerships, along with officials from the Royal Thai Embassy.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Thailand and the British Museum. The Thai side welcomed the plan to display various objects from Southeast Asia at the British Museum in 2026.
The discussion also covered opportunities for organising a mobile exhibition in Thailand in the future, as well as the exchange of knowledge and expertise with relevant Thai agencies.
The British Museum is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading museums and attracts a large number of visitors. Founded in 1753, the museum is the world first public national museum and key institution that collects significant artifacts from various civilisations, including important cultural and historical objects from Southeast Asia. In 2025, the museum welcomed 6.4 million visitors.
