NON-IMMIGRANT VISA TYPE ED

 Eligible Applicants for ED Visas

- This category of visa is issued to applicants who are students of educational establishments in Thailand approved by Thai authorities except for students of non-formal schools in accordance with laws on private schools or of any other similar private educational establishments. (Parents of applicant whose age is under 20 years old can apply for Non-Immigrant O visa - visit and staying with family in Thailand).

- This Category of visa is issued to applicants who are students of education and are participating in an internship program in Thailand. 


ED Visa Conditions

- The ED Visa is valid for a single entry into Thailand.

- The ED Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Travellers must enter Thailand within the said 90-day period. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 90 days, counting from the date of entry. During the 90-day period of stay, if they wish to leave and re-enter Thailand, they are required to apply for a re-entry permit (single or multiple) before departure. If they leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, the current stay permit shall be considered void.

- The extension of stay is at the discretion of the immigration officer. Extension application can be made at the Office of Immigration Bureau (visit www.immigration.go.th for more information)

- If the ED Visa holder breaches the entry conditions, the stay permit will be revoked and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

 

Required Documents

 

NON-IMMIGRANT VISA TYPE ED

To study - elementary to secondary level

  1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document

  2. Photograph taken within the last six months
    - If the photograph does not reflect your current appearance you may be refused to enter the Kingdom of Thailand.

  3. Document indicating current location
    - Applicant’s local utility bills (shows your name and address) e.g. electricity bill/ gas / mobile phone / rental agreement.

  4. Financial evidence e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter covering tuition fees and living expenses

  5. Letter from relevant authority under the Ministry of Education or International School

  6. Letter confirming enrolment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer

 

To study - higher education level

  1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document

  2. Photograph taken within the last six months
    - If the photograph does not reflect your current appearance you may be refused to enter the Kingdom of Thailand.

  3. Document indicating current location
    - Applicant’s local utility bills (shows your name and address) e.g. electricity bill/ gas / mobile phone / rental agreement.

  4. Financial evidence e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter covering tuition fees and living expenses

  5. Letter from University

  6. Letter confirming enrolment details from University signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer

 

To study a short course / Thai or English language

  1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document

  2. Photograph taken within the last six months
    - If the photograph does not reflect your current appearance you may be refused to enter the Kingdom of Thailand.

  3. Document indicating current location
    - Applicant’s local utility bills (shows your name and address) e.g. electricity bill/ gas / mobile phone / rental agreement.

  4. Financial evidence e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter covering tuition fees and living expenses

  5. Letter from relevant authority under the Ministry of Education

  6. Letter confirming enrolment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer

 

To study (vocational, technical and university diploma below bachelor’s degree)

  1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document

  2. Photograph taken within the last six months

  3. Document indicating current location

  4. Financial evidence e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter covering tuition fees and living expenses

  5. Letter from Institute/University

  6. Letter confirming enrollment details from Institute/University signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer

 

To attend workshop, training or seminar organized by International Organization

  1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document

  2. Photograph taken within the last six months
    - If the photograph does not reflect your current appearance you may be refused to enter the Kingdom of Thailand.

  3. Document indicating current location
    - Applicant’s local utility bills (shows your name and address) e.g. electricity bill/ gas / mobile phone / rental agreement.

  4. Financial evidence e.g. bank statements, sponsorship letter covering tuition fees and living expenses

  5. Letter confirming the internship/participation in a programme from the company/international organization.

 

For monk, nun, priest to study dharma in Thailand

  1. Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document

  2. Photograph taken within the last six months

  3. Document indicating current location
    - Applicant’s local utility bills (shows your name and address) e.g. electricity bill/ gas / mobile phone / rental agreement.

  5. Letter from National office of Buddhism

 

Internship (Curricular internship)

  3. Document indicating current location
    - Applicant’s local utility bills (shows your name and address) e.g. electricity bill/ gas / mobile phone / rental agreement.

  5. Letter confirming the curricular internship from the visa applicant’s university/educational institute

  6. Letter confirming the internship/participation in a program from the company/international organization
