The University of Leeds offers the UK's only B.A. in Thai Studies, providing an exciting and in-depth exploration of the Thai language, politics, history and culture. The programme accommodates students at a beginner level but is adaptable for those with prior knowledge of the Thai language. 

In the second year, students will spend a year at Chiang Mai University in northern Thailand, taking intensive language courses and immersing themselves in Thai culture. All the practical classes of the final years of our programme are delivered principally in Thai, ensuring that students develop fluency and proficiency in the language.

Studying Thai Studies at Leeds opens up great career opportunities worldwide, including in business, journalism, diplomacy, teaching, international aid, tourism, broadcasting, public relations, and translation.

The Thai Studies Programme also hosts the Thai Forum, an exciting space for research discussions and exploring contemporary issues in Thailand. It is also open to the public.
