Thailand re-elected as Chair of IMO’s Facilitation Committee

Mr. Watchara Chiemanukulkit was re-elected as Chair of the International Maritime Organization’s Facilitation Committee during its 48th session (FAL 48), held during 8 - 12 April 2024 at the IMO headquarters in London. At FAL 47 in March 2023, Mr. Chiemanukulkit was the first Thai national elected as Chair of the Committee which is responsible for addressing various international maritime issues, including maritime autonomous ships, wildlife trafficking and digitalization.

With his re-election, Mr. Chiemanukulkit will continue to chair the Facilitation Committee in 2025. Looking ahead, Thailand will continue to contribute and work closely with the IMO to deliver the Organization’s mandate to serve Member States and the shipping industry.
