Ambassador Thani Thongphakdi met with Dr. Hartwig Fischer, Director of British Museum and Asia experts on 30 January 2023 to discuss future collaboration to promote people-to-people linkages between Thailand and the UK, through exhibiting knowledge and cultural heritage of Thailand and the Southeast Asian region to a wider public at the Museum. Both sides also discuss possible partnership in terms of research, capacity-building for personnel and sharing of best practices between relevant institutions and museums in Thailand and the British Museum.

The British Museum is the UK's first national public museum dedicated to human history, art and culture. Its permanent collection of eight million works, now mounting to thirteen million, is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence. Currently, the British Museum holds about 3,500 objects from Thailand.
