The Royal Thai Embassy wishes to invite nominations of nationals or institutions in the field of medicine or health in either governmental or non-governmental capacities who have demonstrated outstanding and exemplary contributions to the advancement of medical and public health services for humanity throughout the world, to be considered for the Prince Mahidol Award 2023.

The Prince Mahidol Award Foundation of Thailand was established on 1st January 1992 in commemoration of the centenary of the birth of His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla. The Foundation is under the Royal Patronage, with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn as President.

The Foundation annually confers two Prince Mahidol Awards upon individuals or institutions, which have demonstrated outstanding and exemplary contributions to the advancement of the world’s medical and public health services. Thus far, fourteen British scientists have received the Prince Mahidol Awards since its inception, with the most recent recipient being Professor Dr. David Mabey, Professor of Communicable Diseases, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, in the field of Public Health for his outstanding work on the treatment of trachoma.

All nominations will be considered by the International Award Committee, which will make recommendations to the Board of Trustees of the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation for endorsement. Two awards will be conferred on an annual basis, one in medicine and one in public health. Each award consists of a medal, a certificate and the sum of USD 100,000. The award presentation ceremony will take place in Bangkok in January each year.

For the Prince Mahidol Award 2022, the ceremony was held at the Chakri Throne Hall, the Grand Place, Bangkok, Thailand, on 26th January 2023, and was graciously presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn as the Representative of His Majesty the King.

Further information about the Prince Mahidol Award is available at www.princemahidolaward.org. Nomination of candidates can be submitted online at http://www.princemahidolaward.org/nomination-submission/ or through the Royal Thai Embassy at [email protected] no later than midnight (Bangkok time) on 31st May 2023.
