On 20 October 2026, H.E. Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK together with Mrs. Priabthip Krishnamra, spouse of the Ambassador, and officials of the Royal Thai Embassy in London, attended a tea reception marking the United Nations International Day of the Girl Child, jointly organised by the Pan Asian Women’s Association (PAWA) and the Royal Thai Embassy, London at the Embassy. The event brought together approximately 40 PAWA members. On this occasion, the Ambassador delivered opening remarks and expressed the Embassy’s support for PAWA’s efforts to promote girls’ rights and educational opportunities across Asia, including Thailand.

The event featured an art competition celebrating the strength and full potential of girls. The winning artwork, created by Ms. Wikanda Rungtharncharoen, a student from Thailand, was printed on T-shirts on sales for fundraising to PAWA’s projects across asia. The event particularly highlighted the One Sky project in Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand, which has received PAWA’s continued support since 2019 to provide meals and transportation costs as part of educational scholarships for girls from ethnic minority communities.

PAWA, founded in 2009, is an entirely volunteer-run organisation supporting educational initiatives in 11 Asian countries and creating opportunities for more than 20,000 girls, reflecting a strong commitment to ensuring that every girl has access to education, the opportunity to fulfil her full potential, and the chance to build a brighter future, with a view to create a more equal and sustainable society.
