On 11 September 2021, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata, led a group of 53 volunteers, from government, businesses, Thai community and friends of Thailand in the UK, to run 10 kilometers in the charity run “I Volunteer for Thailand”. This event is organised as part of London’s famous Richmond Runfest, held at Kew Garden, London. The Royal Thai Embassy, London, in collaboration with Safe Child Thailand, and the Thai private sector investing in the UK, namely Thai Beverage, King Power Group, PTT, Bangkok Bank and CPF, jointly organised “I Volunteer for Thailand” charity run, to raise funds in support of Safe Child Thailand’s projects for children with disabilities and COVID-19 relief in Thailand.

The event was a remarkable success, with more than 300 participants attending and joining the fund-raising. The Royal Thai Embassy was able to raise more than 15,000 GBP (or 680,000 baht) to be contributed to Safe Child Thailand. The success story from this charity run is an excellent example of a public-private-people partnership, underpinned by the Royal Guidance of “Volunteer” or “Jit-a-sa”, of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand. The royal guidance of “Jit-a-sa” has united the Thai community in the UK to join hands in support of the people in need in Thailand, hence fostering the Thai solidarity without borders. This sense of unity will be an important driving force for the nation looking ahead.
