On 7 July 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy and the Office of the Maritime Attaché hosted a coffee break on the sidelines of the 134th Session of the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO Council), as part of outreach efforts for Thailand’s candidature for the IMO Council under Category C for the 2026–2027 term. The event brought together Permanent Representatives and representatives from IMO Member States.

On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the IMO greeted representatives from IMO Member States and requested support for Thailand’s bid for election to the Council. A video message from H.E. Mr. Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, was shared, highlighting Thailand’s constructive role in maritime affairs and the country’s vision for the IMO.

T-shirts made from marine plastic debris were also distributed to attendees, showcasing Thailand’s commitment to sustainable debris management. Each T-shirt was made using materials equivalent to 12 recycled plastic bottles.
