On 4 February 2025, H.E. Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra paid a courtesy call on Ms. Catherine West MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Indo-Pacific at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, on the occasion of his assumption of duty as the Ambassador of Thailand to the United Kingdom. Minister West warmly welcomed the Ambassador, with both sides expressing their readiness to support each other’s works, especially in this important year, marking the 170th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the United Kingdom. Various joint activities in Thailand and the UK are planned to commemorate this milestone.

Moreover, the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral issues, including preparations for the 5th Thailand-UK Strategic Dialogue, which will be held in Thailand in April 2025. Other topics covered included regional matters, ASEAN affairs, UK-EU relations, and current global geopolitical issues. Both parties reaffirmed the strong and friendly ties between Thailand and the United Kingdom.

In addition, Minister West mentioned that she had watched the Thai film 'How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies,' which was released in the UK late last year, and was deeply impressed by it. She expressed regret that the film did not make it to the final 5 nominees for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards.
