On 10 February 2023, H.E. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Kingdom, presented his accreditation letter appointing him Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to Mr. Kitack Lim, IMO Secretary-General. On this occasion, the Ambassador also submitted the Instrument of Acceptance to the amendments of the IMO Convention, making Thailand the ninth country out of 175 member states to have done so.

 

The Ambassador also notified the IMO Secretary-General of Thailand’s candidature for re-election of the IMO Council category C: 2024 – 2025, reflecting Thailand’s commitment to working with IMO, especially in promoting technical cooperation and capacity buildings, as well as in addressing challenges such climate change.
