Ambassador of Thailand to the UK holds discussion with Chairman of Thai-UK Business Council (TUBC) to promote cooperation between Thai-UK private sectors

On 11 August 2026, His Excellency Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK, held a discussion with Mr. Rupert Goodman OBE DL, Chairman of the Thai-UK Business Council (TUBC), on ways to enhance the role of Thai-UK private sectors in advancing economic partnership between Thailand and the UK. Ms. Kritsana Chonweerawong, Minister, and Captain Pongsak Somwong, Deputy Assistant Naval Attaché at the Royal Thai Embassy as well as Embassy officials also joined the meeting.
The two sides exchanged views on ways to elevate the momentum of cooperation between the Thai and UK businesses to advance economic partnership and lay a groundwork for the 2nd Thailand-UK Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) meeting. They also discussed opportunities and benefits from the opening of Thailand-UK FTA negotiations, as well as ways to promote cooperation on high-potential industries with shared interests, particularly on defence industry development.
On this occasion, the Ambassador also reiterated the TUBC’s role in promoting greater exchange of high-level visits between Thailand and the UK to build on momentum of the celebration of the 170 years of the Thai-UK diplomatic relations to concretely drive cooperation in high potential areas forward.
