On 24 January 2026, Ambassador Nadhavathna Krishnamra called on Lord Neil Mendoza, Provost of Oriel College, University of Oxford, and a member of the UK Soft Power Council, at Oriel College, University of Oxford.

          The two sides exchanged views on the role of culture, historical heritage, education, and the creative industries in strengthening soft power, as well as on potential areas of cooperation between Thailand and the UK. The Ambassador reiterated the importance placed by the Embassy on building upon the momentum generated by the celebration of the 170^th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the UK in 2025 and to further enhance the close ties between the two countries, particularly long-term people-to-people relations.

          On this occasion, the Ambassador highlighted the Embassy’s priorities for 2026, as the “Year of Education,” which will be focusing on promoting and expanding educational cooperation at all levels between Thailand and the UK, with a view to laying a strong foundation for sustainable relations in the future.
