On 12 May 2026, Ambassador Nadhavathna Krishnamra and Mrs. Priabthip Krishnamra, spouse of the Ambassador, together with officials of the Royal Thai Embassy in London, attended the opening ceremony of the “Woven Shade” exhibition at Asia House, London. The exhibition was organised by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and the Thai Art and Craft Development Association (TACDA) as part of London Craft Week 2026, with approximately 80 participants in attendance.
On this occasion, the Ambassador delivered remarks at the opening ceremony and expressed his appreciation for Thailand’s participation in London Craft Week 2026 which is an important international platform that promotes the value of handicrafts, artisanal skills, and cultural heritage. The “Woven Shade” exhibition showcases the beauty of contemporary Thai basketry through woven hats and traditional woven crafts, reflecting local wisdom, ways of life, and the close relationship between Thai communities and nature. It highlights the cultural identity and heritage of Lanna culture in northern Thailand. The Ambassador also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NRCT and London Craft Week by Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of the NRCT, and Mr. Guy Salter, Chairman and Founder of London Craft Week.
Thailand is participating in London Craft Week 2026 between 11-17 May 2026 with two exhibitions: “The Art of Thai Miniatures” at the Royal Thai Embassy (10:00-17:00 hrs.); and “Woven Shade” at Asia House (11:00-18:00 hrs.), which are open to public free of charge. These two exhibitions reflect the diversity and creativity of Thai craftsmanship in various forms and contribute to the strengthening of cultural relations between Thailand and UK and international partners.
