On 10 January 2020, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata hosted the ASEAN London Committee Handover Meeting at the Royal Thai Embassy, London.  At the meeting, Ambassador Pisanu handed over the Chairmanship of the ASEAN London Committee (ALC) to Viet Nam.

Ambassador Pisanu highlighted the ALC’s achievements during the Thai Chairmanship in raising awareness of ASEAN among British public through various activities. These include (a) the inaugural ASEAN Film Festival in the UK, with a view to promoting ASEAN’s potentials in film and creative industries and using films as a bridge to greater bond of friendship between ASEAN and British society and (b) the first Taste of ASEAN in the UK, aimed at promoting ASEAN food and cultures among the British society in order to promote various ASEAN food products.

As simultaneous Chair of the ASEAN Dublin Committee, ASEAN profile in Ireland has also greatly been raised through the Thai initiative for ASEAN joint mission in Dublin where ASEAN Ambassadors/High Commissioners based in London and accredited to Dublin to take this opportunity to meet political leaders and senior members of the Irish Government and all Irish  business partners who have keen interests in ASEAN. This collective efforts to promote stronger partnership with Ireland resulted in ASEAN being made as reference in the Ireland’s strategic vision on “Global Ireland : Delivering in the Asia Pacific Region to 2025”, which was launched on 9 January 2020.
