Thai Visa for Certain Nationals from the Middle East, South Asia and East Asia

Holders of passports, or holders of UK/Irish travel documents who are nationals, of countries listed below are requested to apply for Thai visa in person at the Royal Thai Embassy in London :
Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Central African Republic, the People's Republic of China, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea, India, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen 

The Royal Thai Embassy in London can issue visa to the passport holders of the above-mentioned countries, provided that the applicant obtains a residence status in the United Kingdom or Ireland.

From 15 June 2019, visa applicants have to apply online.

Applicants are required to set up an account and submit visa applications, with supporting documents to be attached and payment to be made online through secured portal. Then, applicants have to book an appointment online to submit their passports and visa applications at the Embassy.

Required Documents for tourist visa (from 15 June 2019) 

  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months and at least 2 blank pages. Applicants must fill in online visa application with their given name(s) and surname as appear in their passports.

  • Printout of visa application form submitted online, with bar code

  • Travel booking confirmation (This can be flight details shown departure date, flight number from UK to Thailand and Thailand to UK.) You must show all routes if there are stops in between. We will not consider your application if you do not have a return flight details back to the UK.

  • For Nigerian passport holders, we need Clearance Certificate by NDLEA (National Drug Law Enforcement Agency) in Nigeria, certified by the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and legalised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, or Police Clearance Certificate obtained in the UK or Ireland.
  • Proof of accommodation in Thailand e.g. accommodation bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand 

  • Letter from school / employer / self-assessment

         - If you are working, you are required to submit a letter from your employer. The letter should have the headed paper of the company, stating your current position, and addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in London, to certify your working status.

         - If you are self-employed, you should submit a copy of your self-assessment paper, a copy of the company registration document, or any other type of document confirming your working status. 

         - If you are a student, you should submit a letter from your school or university, addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in London, confirming your status. 

  • Financial evidence e.g. bank statement in UK current account, showing transactions for the past 3 months with the deposit of at least £500, with your name and address, or printed out with the authorisation by the bank, or proof of earnings, sponsorship letter

  • Confirmation of legal residence in the UK (validity over 3 months) e.g. residence card or Indefinite Leave to Remain (to be proved with the original)

Required documents for other types of visa :

In addition, the applicant needs to provide the following:

  • For working or business purposes: Letter from your employer or company in Thailand.

  • For studying or educational purposes: Letter of acceptance from educational institute in Thailand.

Visa fee

Effective from 1 April 2019, the Embassy will increase visa fees in correspondence to the changes in currency exchange rate. Click here for the new fees.

Please note: We will keep all supporting documents. If you wish to have your documents back, please make photocopy before submitting your visa application. 

In case that you have someone supporting you, you must provide an evidence of relationship, such as a marriage certificate or a birth certificate or other relevant documents. If such a document was not issued in the UK or Ireland, it must be legalised or certified by the relevant embassy in London.

Documents in foreign languages must be translated into English and the translation must be certified  by the relevant embassy in London.
