On 18 March 2026, Ambassador Nadhavathna Krishnamra welcomed a delegation of executives from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), led by Emeritus Professor Dr. Yongyuth Yuthavong, Chairman of KMUTT University Council, to the Royal Thai Embassy in London. The delegation also included Associate Professor Dr. Tawich Pulngern, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, along with representatives from KMUTT. Also in attendance were Professor Alex Clark, Dean for International, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Associate Professor Dr. Chinnapat Panwisawas, Director of the Materials Science and Engineering Programme from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL).

The Ambassador extended his congratulations to Emeritus Professor Dr. Yongyuth Yuthavong on the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree in sciences, from Queen Mary University of London. He also exchanged views with the university executives on promoting educational cooperation between Thailand and the UK, particularly in the field of engineering, which plays a vital role in driving Thailand’s future target industries. KMUTT and QMUL are currently developing joint academic programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in engineering. These initiatives include faculty and student exchanges, as well as collaborative research.

On this occasion, the Ambassador also highlighted the Embassy’s priority in promoting Thai-UK educational cooperation, noting that the Embassy has designated this year as the “Year of Thai-UK Education Partnership,” with the aim of strengthening and expanding educational collaboration at all levels between Thailand and the UK.
