Progressive and Longstanding Collaboration between Thailand and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London

On 27 January 2023, Ambassador Thani Thongphakdi paid a visit to Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and met with Mr. Richard Deverell, Director and a team of Thai botanical experts/researchers to discuss collaboration on R&D and knowledge-sharing. Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew has had longstanding partnerships with relevant Thai agencies and academic institution. Among others, a fellowship programme with Mahidol University in Thailand, which allows Thai students to work at Kew to conduct short-term research.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew houses the largest and most diverse botanical and mycological collections in the world, with more than 1,100 experts and over 8.5 million preserved plant and specimens, including 60,000 specimens from Thailand. It is thus a world-leading institution for advanced botanic study and research and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
