On 8 July 2026, His Excellency Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK, held talks with Dr. Chanintr Chalisarapong, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, to strengthen cooperation between the Embassy and the Thai Chamber of Commerce in promoting Thai-UK economic partnership. Ms. Kritsana Chonweerawong, Minister at the Royal Thai Embassy and Mr. Jirakarn Bejrajati, Minister, Office of Commercial Affairs in London and the Embassy’s officials also joined the meeting.

The two sides exchanged views on trade and investment policies of Thailand and the UK, as well as the Royal Thai Government’s strategic priorities in advancing economic diplomacy and expanding Thailand’s access to new global markets. The discussion focused on ways to strengthen economic partnership in order to enhance Thailand’s competitiveness and promote long-term economic growth through FTA negotiations with potential trading partners particularly with reference to the UK. Thai-UK trade and investment has shown great potential and the Embassy and the Chamber will work closely in their advocacy of the launching of Thai-UK FTA negotiations. The discussion also covered fresh opportunities to expand exports of Thai agricultural and food products to the UK, particularly fruits and canned tuna which are among the products granted temporary suspension of import duties into the UK from 21 June 2026 to 31 December 2028. The Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce would explore the possibility to bringing a delegation of Thai businesses to the UK to advance these issues.
