Ambassador of Thailand pays first call on Baroness Winterton of Doncaster, UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific

On 8 September 2026, H.E. Mr. Nadhavathna Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to the UK, paid a courtesy call on Baroness Winterton of Doncaster, Minister for the Indo-Pacific at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, on the occasion of her appointment to the role after the formation of the new UK administration.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange views on progress in bilateral cooperation and the enhancement of the Strategic Partnership between Thailand and the UK. The Ambassador was able to share perspectives on opening Thai-UK FTA negotiations and promotion of educational partnership as well as enhancing security, economy, science, technology and innovation (STI), and people-to-people exchanges. The discussion further touched upon prospects to further strengthen the momentum of bilateral relations and within the ASEAN framework during Thailand’s Chairmanship of the ASEAN London Committee (ALC).

The FCDO Minister for the Indo-Pacific oversees relations and cooperation between the UK and countries in the Indo-Pacific region including Thailand. The Embassy places high importance on working closely with successive Ministers to strengthen Thai-UK mutually beneficial cooperation and raising Thailand’s and ASEAN’s visibility in the UK.
