Their Majesties’ benevolence to protect Thailand from COVID-19

Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand graciously procured from Siam Cement Group (SCG), a leading Thai innovation business, “Modular Swab Units” for twenty hospitals in Thailand. This is part of the Royal Relief Project to Support Ventilators and Medical Equipment to strengthen Thailand’s capacity to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SCG’s “Modular Swab Unit”, is Thailand’s home-grown innovation, which intertwines the latest building technologies from SCG Heim and Living Solution to provide comprehensive solutions for the COVID-19 pandemic. It introduces advanced technologies that protect and reduce risks of contraction for both medical professionals and patients comprehensively. The screening and ventilation system which separates doctors and patients ensures safety for them as the unit is pressure-controlled which decreases the risk of infection and increases efficiency in COVID-19 screening. These units are able to be installed in confined areas and within three days in order to promptly respond to medical emergency demands.

On 21 May 2020, the eighth unit of the ‘Modular Swab Unit’ was granted to Ratchaburi Hospital, Ratchburi province. The hospital has the capacity to accommodate 4,000 out-patients and in-patients per day and acts as a regional hub for patient transfers from other surrounding provinces, namely Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phetchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom, Suphan Buri, and Kanchanaburi.  The deployment of the Modular Swab Unit has empowered the hospital to respond to the emerging needs more efficiently to patients and safely for medical staffs.
