On 21 February 2020, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata met with Professor Kerstin Mey, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Engagement, University of Limerick (UL) during his working visit to Ireland. He explored possible partnerships, including opportunities for Thai students, collaboration with Thai universities on research and innovation and joint degree programme in support of Thailand 4.0 national strategy, as well as sharing of best practices and experiences between UL and Thai tertiary institutions. In addition, Ambassador Pisanu had a productive discussion with Mr. Paul Dillion, Director of Technology Transfer of the UL’s Nexus Innovation Centre, which focuses on innovation spin-offs, commercialisation of research and innovation, advancing entrepreneurial skills among students, as well as possible partnerships in the context of Thailand’s Eastern Economic Cooridor (EEC). Ambassador Pisanu also met with Thai students at UL.
 
UL is a comprehensive and innovation-based university, located two and a half hours South of Dublin (by car). The university currently has around 16,000 students, is ranked 3rd best university in Ireland and 71st in the global ranking of young universities, as well as tops the global chart on student happiness’s index. Undergraduate and postgraduate education offered include science and technology, innovation, medicine, business administration, and humanities.
