20 February 2020 (Dublin, Ireland), Ambassador Pisanu and Mrs. Thipayasuda Suvanajata attended the premier of an exhibition “Siam Through the Lens of John Thomson” at Chester Beatty Library, Dublin.
The premier of this exhibition was attended by over 150 participants from across all sectors in Ireland, ranging from senior government officials, private sector, academics, philanthropists, media, friends of Thailand and interested public.
The exhibition showcases a rare collection of some historic photographs taken by John Thomson, a renowned artist/photographer from Scotland, who travel to Siam (former name of modern Thailand) between 1865-1866 (B.E. 2408-2409). This exhibition is coordinated and organised by M.R. Narisa Chakrabongse, a publisher, academic and lecturer on Southeast Asian art and culture, in collaboration with the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin.
Aiming to raise an awareness and visibility of Thailand in Ireland, this exhibition will further enhance close and cordial ties between the two countries. The exhibition is also organised at an opportune time in which Thailand and Ireland commemorate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2020.
The Royal Thai Embassy wishes to encourage interested Thai, Irish and international public to visit this wonderful exhibition, which will be held during 21 Febraury-17 March 2020. For more information, please visit https://chesterbeatty.ie/whats-on/siam-through-the-lens-of-john-thomson-1865-66/
