On 13 February 2020 at 17.15 hrs., H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Foreign Minister of Thailand, met with Sir Graham Brady MP, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Thailand. (APPG) at the Portcullis House, UK Parliament. This meeting is timely as Sir Graham Brady was recently nominated as the new Chair of the APPG following the General Election in 2019, of which the APPG serves as the platform for parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
In the meeting, both sides expressed their satisfaction to see the traditional ties between Thailand and the UK flourished and move towards their 165th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. As the UK left the EU and entered a new chapter of Global Britain, both sides discussed the way forward to strengthen the bilateral trade and investment, educational cooperation, as well as the possibility to have the bilateral Free Trade Agreement in the near future. The UK side took this opportunity to firmly set sight for the successful trade negotiation with the EU by the end of the transition period, while the Thai side reaffirmed its readiness to support the UK’s Global Britain and to connect the UK to ASEAN and Southeast Asian region for the mutual benefits of both countries and peoples.
