Royal Thai Embassy, London, in collaboration with the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (ECCO), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland, Asia Matters and Enterprise Ireland, organised a Breakfast Meeting entitled “Thailand : Opportunities and Partnerships” at Morrison Hotel in Dublin, Ireland, on 7 February 2020. Around 50 participants across various sectors from government agencies, businesses and academic institutions in Ireland attended this briefing.

Addressing the audience, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata underscored Thailand’s potentials as Ireland’s gateway to ASEAN and Asia and the Pacific, especially in the context of the EEC, in line with the Global Ireland policy.

Mrs. Luxmon Attapich, EECO Deputy Secretary General, highlighted the possible alignments of Irish strengths in the targeted industries where there were mutual benefits, and that the EEC was poised to be a destination where Ireland could set and expand its footprints in ASEAN and Asia.

Representing the Irish side, H.E. Mr. Brendan Rogers, Deputy Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and also Ireland’s first resident Ambassador to Thailand, gave his positive reflections on how he saw the economic potentials and ease of doing business. Director of Asia-Pacific Tim Mawe further elaborated on how these prospects fit into the country’s Asia-Pacific strategy to increase engagement with the region.

The event was very successful and received positive feedback from the Irish audience, who expressed enthusiasm to further engage and utilise opportunities in Thailand and the EEC. The Royal Thai Embassy stands ready to support our Irish friends to follow up and build on the success from this briefing.
