During 17-19 August 2019, the Royal Thai Embassy in London organised an annual meeting of the “Team Thailand of the UK”, with participation of other Thai government offices in London, as well as those based in other European cities but their mandates also cover the UK.  The main purpose is to coordinate, share information, and brainstorm to integrate the projects and work plans for 2020, in order to implement and realise the policy of the Royal Thai Government under the new Prime Minister, amidst the rapidly changing political landscapes of Thailand and the UK, and fluid global economic eco-system.

On this occasion, the Team Thailand of the UK visited the Manchester Airport for a briefing and discussion with the executives on the economic potentials and opportunities for Thailand and the UK, with Manchester as a base when Thai Airways International would operate direct flights between Bangkok and Manchester.  The Team Thailand also visited the Manchester Craft and Design Centre to learn about its concept, model and management structure so that Thailand can adapt and apply this formulation to support local artisans so that they would have facilities and instruments to create, produce and sell their art works, as well as promoting entrepreneurship of small businesses.

The meeting was successfully concluded with the Team Thailand of the UK agreed on the integration of work plans and projects for 2020. With the power of unity of Team Thailand in the UK and the existing cordial ties of both countries, Thailand-UK relations will enter a new chapter of closer friendship that serves to further promote mutual interests of both countries and peoples.
