On 18 July 2019, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata paid a courtesy call on Cllr. David Cook, Lord Major of Newcastle, at the Newcastle Civic Center. Ambassador Pisanu was warmly welcomed by the Lord Mayor and both sides exchanged views on the latest development in the North Eastern part of the UK and in Thailand, especially on the economic and business opportunities offered by Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Programme to the UK businesses. Ambassador Pisanu also discussed about the Embassy's mobile consular service for Thai citizens living in Newcastle and in the nearby areas scheduled to be held at the Copthorne Hotel Newcastle during 20-21 July 2019. Ambassador Pisanu had expressed his thanks to the Newcastle City Council for the care extended to over 300 members of the Thai community including Thai students. Both sides agreed that promoting more businesses and furthering educational ties between the two countries will enhance greater 'visibility and awareness' of one another, which will in turn help strengthening Thailand - UK overall bilateral relations.
Following the meeting with the Lord Major of Newcastle, Ambassador Pisanu took part in the round table discussion hosted by KPMG office in Newcastle with business representatives of the North East England Chamber of Commerce. In his briefing, Ambassador Pisanu provided latest developments in Thailand and the insights on business opportunities for the potential British investors, especially in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), where the UK has expertise in all of the 12 targeted industries that could realize the Global Britain policy and mutual interest between Thailand and the UK as well as for the two peoples.
