On 23 February 2019, Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata gave a closing address at the Warwick ASEAN Conference 2019, which took place at The Oculus, Warwick University.  Ambassador Pisanu shared with over 200 participants on Thailand’s priorities and deliverables as the Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) under the theme, “Advancing Partnership for Sustainability.” Thailand will work towards the “Sustainability of Things” with nine other ASEAN member states where rivers, mountains and the seas pose no longer a barrier to the development of strengthened relations.  ASEAN will enhance digital networks, continues the Smart Cities Network and paving ways for startups.  Thailand will ensure that ASEAN is seamless, that people can travel freer, and capital move better.  As Chair of ASEAN, Thailand’s emphasis will be on partnerships with ASEAN dialogue partners and every strategic friend, and will leave no one behind.  ASEAN will ensure herself as an outward-looking organisation, in which both the United Kingdom and the European Union remain ASEAN’s important partners and will collectively work to ensure greater prosperity and mutual benefits between the two regions and peoples.
