Tourist Visa Exemption

 

Passport holders of the countries listed for visa exemption are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 30 days on each visit. 

 

From 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023, the period of stay for tourist visa exemption scheme is extended from 30 to 45 days. In addition, the period of stay for bilateral agreements on visa exemption are extended from 14 and 30 days to 45 days.List of Countries applicable for visas exemption

 

Foreigners who enter Thailand under this Tourist Visa Exemption category may only do so for 30 days at one time with a maximum of 3 times in a 6 month period by flight and 2 times a year for overland crossing.

 

Foreigners entering Thailand under the Tourist Visa Exemption category must show the documents below at the port of entry: 

  • Proof of adequate finances for the duration of stay in Thailand i.e. traveller’s cheque or cash equivalent to 20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family.
  • Proof of onward travel (confirmed air, train, bus or boat tickets) to leave Thailand within 30 days of the arrival date (**otherwise a tourist visa must be obtained).
     

Tourist Visa Exemption only applies to foreigners holding passports issued by listed countries.Travel documents for aliens issued by these countries are not acceptable.
 

Remarks:


* Passport holders of Brazil, Korea (ROK) and Peru are entitled for tourist visa exemption scheme. Meanwhile, Thailand also holds bilateral agreements on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, official and ordinary passports for a visit of not exceeding 90 days with Brazil, Korea (ROK) and Peru.
** Passport holders of Vietnam and Hong Kong are entitled for tourist visa exemption scheme. Meanwhile, Thailand also holds bilateral agreements on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, official and ordinary passports for a visit of not exceeding 30 days with Vietnam and Hong Kong.
*** From 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023, the period of stay for visa-on-arrival is extended from 15 to 30 days.
**** From 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023, the period of stay for tourist visa exemption scheme is extended from 30 to 45 days. In addition, the period of stay for bilateral agreements on visa exemption are extended from 14 and 30 days to 45 days.

Tourist Visa up to 60 days

 

Requirement

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for Tourism and Medical Treatment purposes.
      

Required Documents

 For Single Entry 

  •  A current passport with validity of over 6 months beyond the date of application
  •  Visa application form completely filled out
  • Two (2) recent photos of the applicant
  • Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary

  • A current passport with validity of over 6 months beyond the date of application
  • A completed application form
  • Two (2) recent photos of the applicant
  • Original bank statement of the applicant showing a balance of at least £5000 (for 6 months) or a print out with official stamp of the bank
  • A letter from the applicant's employer
    If you are self-employed, you self-assessment and a company registration document are required.
  • A photocopy of the confirmed air ticket to Thailand
  • A photocopy of the hotel reservation confirmation in Thailand

Validity of a Visa    

Period of Stay         

Upon arrival, travellers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 30 days or 60 days.

Nationals of countries which are on Thailand’s Tourist Visa Exemption list or have bilateral agreements on visa exemption with Thailand will be permitted to stay for a period of not exceeding 60 days. Nationals from other countries who hold a tourist visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 30 days.

 

Extension of Stay

Those who wish to stay longer or may wish to change their type of visa must file an application for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located at Government Centre B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or at http://www.immigration.go.th). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.
       

Additional Requirements
Nationals of certain countries are required to apply for a visa only at the Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their home/residence country or at the designated Thai Embassy. Therefore, travellers are advised to contact the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate-General to find out where they may apply for a visa to Thailand before departure.
