On 22 August 2022, Associate Professor Dr. Pannee Cheewinsiriwat, Assistant to the President for Research, Chulalongkorn University, together with research team members from various leading universities of Thailand, met Ambassador Pisanu Suvanajata at Sri Ayudhya Room, the Royal Thai Embassy, London, to introduce and update the progress of cooperation projects between Thailand and the UK on climate change issues through research collaboration. The research on “Modelling Flood Risk and Community Resilience” identified possible impact of economic projects in the Eastern Economic Corridor of Thailand towards the water level and flows of the River of Rayong and its effect on the community livelihood. The other entitled “Thai Coast: Coastal Vulnerability, Resilience and Adaptation in Thailand” focused on an effect of climate change on the ecosystem of the Thai coastline in Ranong and Chumphon Provinces. In addition to striking the balance between economic development in Thailand and thoughtful care for environment, these research collaboration projects represent Thailand’s contribution to the joint international efforts in mitigating the global warming and various climate change issues.
